A person in a plaid shirt and hat stands smiling on a rocky cliff, overlooking a river and forested hills under a clear blue sky.
“She’s seen it all—snakes, storms, bath bomb conferences - and still finds time to stare dramatically into the wilderness like she owns it. Which, let’s be honest, she kinda does.”
Sam: where dull moments go extinct.
Sam: where dull moments go extinct.

At Sydney Guided Tours, we don’t do boring — and we definitely don’t do average. When we say we’ve found someone extraordinary to join our wildlife tour guide team, we mean it.

Her name’s Sam. And she’s not just a guide. She’s a walking wildlife encyclopaedia, a venomous-snake-handling expert, and probably the most qualified ranger to ever step into a pair of Blundstones.

“Your Wildlife Tour Guide Does What?"

Sam's the real deal. She launched her career at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, spending five years in hands-on zookeeping before becoming a small-animal veterinary nurse for over a decade—treating everything from possums to penguins.

She’s fully certified in venomous snake handling, first aid, if that’s not enough, she’s also led a team at LUSH Cosmetics, advocating for ethics, sustainability and smelly bath bombs. She’s even given a TED Talk. A bloody TED Talk! Most of us just give talks to our dog.

But let’s cut the résumé and get to the good stuff.

A person in a yellow vest kneels, engaging with a kangaroo, while two others watch. Trees and earthy ground in the background.
"Sam’s the only one here who speaks fluent kangaroo."

Sam is the kind of guide who makes every moment feel personal. Approachable, sharp-witted, and full of fascinating knowledge, she can spot a red-bellied black snake in the undergrowth while explaining the uses of bush tucker behind the next gum tree — all without breaking a sweat.

She’s passionate about eco-tourism, a strong advocate for Indigenous culture, and a true believer in giving guests a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Whether she’s helping kids fall in love with the bush, pointing out a camouflaged tawny frogmouth, or teaching travellers how to spot animal tracks on a guided bushwalk, Sam brings heart, humour and deep respect for Country to every tour.

So if you’re looking for one of the best wildlife tours in Sydney, or want to meet a guide who knows her goannas from her geckos — Sam’s your girl.

Come for the wildlife. Stay for Sam.

Matt was a great guide. Very knowledgeable about local flora and fauna. Friendly and explained what we saw very clearly. Matt was flexible, adding a beautiful walking path along the ocean to our itinerary and skipping what we we not interested in. Great tour!
