Horse Riding FAQs
Sydney Guided Tours at Glenworth Valley
Thinking about saddling up for a horse riding adventure in Sydney? Here’s everything you need to know before you climb into the saddle at Glenworth Valley.
What happens when I arrive?
Check in at the Valley Event Centre reception first. From there you’ll be directed up to the horse riding centre. Each rider needs to fill out a waiver form — you’ll find them on the counter to the left of the office window. Once the paperwork’s done, head to the window and you’re good to go.
What should I wear horse riding in Sydney?
Long pants (jeans or jodhpurs) and a long-sleeved shirt keep you sun-safe and saddle-ready. Footwear needs to be fully enclosed such as horse riding boots or shoes with a flat sole and small heel.
If you don't have these, we have riding boots available for hire or you can wear runners or sandshoes however they are not recommended. Sorry, no sandals, thongs, or chunky hiking boots.
Boots, overalls, and any extras can be hired at your own expense if needed.
What should I bring with me?
-
Sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent
-
A compact camera for those trail views
-
Rain gear if the forecast looks wet
-
A change of clothes (just in case)
Do I need to wear a helmet?
Yes — helmets are compulsory for all riders. Helmet hire is included in trail rides.
Safety note: no backpacks or bags are allowed while riding.
What is the minimum age for horse riding at Glenworth Valley?
Kids need to be at least 7 years old for trail rides.
Do I need experience to join a horse ride?
Nope — these rides cater for all levels, from nervous beginners to confident riders. The pace is set to the least experienced person in the group, so everyone’s comfortable.
Is there a weight limit for horse riding?
Yes. For safety and horse welfare, the maximum rider weight is 100kg(220 pounds). This can vary depending on which horses are available on the day.
Are there any rider restrictions?
All rides depend on the availability of a suitable horse. If in doubt, let Glenworth Valley know your details in advance so we can make sure we’ve got the right match.
